Bedtime Conversations and Conversions

My dear daughter Rebekah is a pro at keeping her parents in her room at bedtime. I'm afraid that she has influenced Abby in this arena as well... Last night as I was tucking them in, Rebekah said, "Mommy, you are a pretty lady. I love you. And, if you get a divorce on accident or on purpose I will still love you." I assured her that I was not going to get a divorce and she said, "Well, if you get one on accident I will still love you. Or, if you leave me or die I will still love you." :) Then, Abby got into the action by making kissing noises as I was leaving... she wanted a kiss. I gave her one, started to leave, and she said "Hu, hu! (Hug...)" There are many, many nights that Rebekah will start theological discussions with her daddy when she is supposed to be going to sleep... "Daddy, did I do anything today to make God unhappy? Can we pray that God will help me follow Him and be good? Can we pray for the people that worship false gods?" Don't get me wrong, I am glad that she has a tender heart, but the timing of when she needs to talk about such things always cracks me up. It reminds me of a little girl I once knew who listened to tapes as she went to sleep, and sometimes they would click off before she went to sleep... "Mommy, can you come flip the tape over?" :)
