Well, the big day finally came... and none too soon for Bekah! We started school today, and Bekah loves it! In fact, she cried and cried after the first day's lesson was over. It was shorter than I anticipated, and after conferring with the principal (otherwise known as dad), the teacher let Bekah watch lesson #2. We are using the A Beka DVD cirriculum, and Bekah seems to really enjoy it. I think after a little while the DVD teacher might make me crazy... it's for a kindergartener, and it gets old for mommy real quick!
I was surprised by how much Philip paid attention - he even joined in on what was going on in class! He did get tired of it (as you can see above), and left for awhile, but I think he picked up a lot of it! Hopefully when he does it next year it won't be boring for him!
Listening intently to "Mrs. Bere", the DVD teacher. Rebekah starting school reminded me of when I was in kindergarten. About the only memories I have are: 1. Wetting my pants. 2. Coloring all over my arms with my new markers while on the way to school (and the "mean" aide who made me wash my arms when I got to school) 3. School pictures and the awful pink shirt with burgandy paisley bow tie that my mom made me wear... I am still scarred by that memory. :)
So far, the only problem we've had is a little troublemaker named Abigail... :) She sat still for about 5 minutes, then started causing trouble. I took her out and explained to her that she didn't need to stay in the room, but if she did she had to be quiet so Rebekah could learn. I told her she could play in Philip's room or she could play quietly in the "classroom"... yea. It was a struggle for 80% of the time. She was good for snack time and recess! :)

To prove your point, yes I do read your blog and really enjoy it, Raylin. I went back to my school job today, so I am sharing the joys and struggles of teaching children!
Have a great week and tell the kids I said hi!
