Andrew and I have a few weird little similarities in our childhood memories... one of those is windmill cookies. Each of us remembers going to grandma's house and getting them as a special treat, along with a glass of soda (for him) and milk (for me). We've talked about it several times, and each time the kids wanted to know what a windmill cookie was. Unfortunately, they don't have the privilege of going to grandma's house very often, and when they do go they don't get windmill cookies! :) So, when I saw some for sale at Hoover's this week I just HAD to buy some! Since Andrew wasn't home to watch them eat them, I had to snap pictures too!
Now they know what windmill cookies are! :)
With the arrival of cooler weather comes the arrival of rodents... at least at our house. We've decided that we just need to keep a constant supply of "food" for them, as they keep showing up when we don't keep them "fed". We recently put out a fresh supply after I saw one running on the top of the wall above my fridge... ugg!
Shortly after we did that, we smelled a (at first faint) smell of dirty diaper in our bedroom. Andrew kept complaining and complaining about the dirty diaper smell.... Now, granted, there was a diaper laying on the floor of our room for a couple of days, but it was not smelly... and Andrew kept complaining about the "diaper smell". I didn't smell it at first, and I thought he was slightly crazy (don't tell him I said that :)). After a day or so, though, you couldn't NOT smell it. I thought, all right, I am going to find this dirty diaper. I tore our room apart looking for the thing... there were none to be found. A couple more days went by and it became evident to me that it was more than a dirty diaper going on... the smell has become so strong that it is enough to make you sick. I finally convinced Andrew that we have a dead mouse or (my guess) rat somewhere near our bedroom. Now that the smell is invading the kitchen we are thinking that it is under the floor boards of our bedroom... what do you do for that?!
Onto a (less stinky) subject... yesterday was Philip's birthday party. We had a lot of friends over, ate home made pizza and curly fries, and generally enjoyed ourselves. I was so busy, however, that I failed to take any pictures!! I am hoping to steal some from my sister-in-law so that I can post them on here. In the meantime, here is a picture of the cake (I took it after I got done decorating it... I wanted to have proof that it actually looked cute just in case it fell over before the party. Fortunately, it didn't. :))

I might post some more pics later... Happy Sunday, everyone!

So just so you stop complaining about no one commenting. Here I am, specifically went to the library to comment on your blog. :) Well not really anyway, that's disgusting about the rodent. That's why no one is commenting cause there so disgusted. I love you:)
Oh my...I read this and told Trish about it but I guess I am supposed to be commenting. I hope you find all the rats! Better u then me!
So did they like the cookies? Thanks for the package! Daniel wanted to know if it was cookies! :) We miss you! Where are the more pics from Philip's birthday...wish I could have been there! (P.S. the grammar is intentional. :))
i miss you...
Sorry, Pam... no more pics are available. :) None of Robin's pics turned out very good, due to the number of children crowding around to see what he got! ;)
You did a great job on the cake, the same thing happened at Vaughn's 6th b-day party, except Jonathan was supposed to be taking pictures and a video...we had to do a redo at home so we could have pictures and the treasured birthday video : )
